Darlene Larsen, also known as Mrs. Darlene, doesn’t run the church but as a longstanding employee, she has seen it all (or most of it). Her current title is Ministry Coordinator, but she has been on staff in various positions at Faith Community Church since it began in 1984, 40 years in August 2024.
If you’ve visited here, you have met her. She sees FCC as a local expression of the Body of Christ, therefore ambassadors for him. “I want the world to see his love and care through us.”
God’s invitation of love called Darlene back from running in 1981 when she was a 26-year-old single mother. “I accepted his gift of freedom from my past, present, and future sins, and I vowed I would serve him forever.” Since then, the path hasn’t been easy but it has been safe. She looks forward to the day she will see the one who created, sought, loves, and cherishes her. Until then, “I pray you will see his love through me every day.”
As Ministry Coordinator, she strives to help members of FCC grow in and use their gifts to make the truths of God come alive in all they do. She enjoys the events that facilitate this growth like VBS, Passion plays, classes, clubs, maintaining the grounds, and her much-loved Advent messages to the kids. See picture above where she captures the whole congregation in anticipation.
Dar is married to Mel. They have three kids: Kevin (Kelsey), Jennifer (Brian), and Troy (Ann). They also have two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dar has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Christian Studies from Trinity International University. When not working, Darlene enjoys needle work, jigsaw puzzles, and watching NASCAR races on TV.
